The United States took command in the 2nd inning, when Jaramillo singled in a run. Yadel Carrillo from Cuba walked in 2 straight batters with the bases loaded to give the US a 3-0 lead. Jaramillo singled in his 2nd run in the 3^rd inning, and in the 4^th, Nix homered to put the Americans ahead 5-0.
