The up and rising superstar of Indian women’s tennis, Sania Mirza, surprised millions of Indian fans when she said that she would not be taking part in the forthcoming $60,000 Bangalore Open WTA event. She told reporters that there are always controversies surrounding her whenever she plays in India and that it is becoming more and more difficult for her to handle the day to day pressures. Sania performed really well in the recently concluded Australian Open Grand slam tournament losing to Venus Williams in the third round and her game was well appreciated by many former players.

Sania’s efforts at the Australian Open earned her the Asia’s number one woman tennis player tag and she is utmost thrilled of her achievements. The WTA Bangalore tournament director, Sunder Raju, was very upset over Sania’s decision and said that the news came as a surprise to him. Some of the controversies that were much talked about in the public like her dress during tennis matches, commercial shootings inside mosques, hugging her coach and disrespecting the National Flag etc are some of the issues that are disturbing her and she feels that it is too much of pressure for her to handle.
