Manchester United moved in closer to their arch rivals Arsenal and now, trail them by 3 points, virtue of a resounding 5 – 1 victory over Kevin Keegan’s New Castle team in the English Premiership League match played on Sunday. Christiano Ronaldo was the star for Manchester United as he scored two goals on either side of the half time and has raised his tally of goals to 29 this season. The other goal scorers for Manchester United were Wayne Rooney who scored two goals and Louis Saha who scores a goal in the final minute of the second half. The lone goal scorer of the New Castle team was Abdoulaye Faye and this loss is the sixth winless match for Kevin Keegan’s side since his return to coach them.

The Red Devils were impeccable in their play and their pace and movement was unmatchable by the Newcastle side. The performance of Newcastle is deteriorating and they have lost 10 league matches and have scored only three points from the last 10 matches. The Newcastle defence was without any chance as Ronaldo was unreachable with his speed, but the incisive pass made by Michael Carrick made all the difference by giving Ronaldo a chance to make a successful shot.
