Carolina Hurricanes had an impressive 5-1 win in the six-game stretch, over the Tampa Bay Lightning at the RBC center. Two weeks ago, the two teams had a tight fight for the lead in the South East division match. Interesting thing about the win is that the four of the five goals were made by team members who joined the team in late January. Eric Staal scored three points for the team with a goal and by giving two assists. He feels that his team did a great job and need more such wins. He is happy that every player in the team rose to the occasion and contributed for the win.

Joe Corvo, Sergi Samsonov, Tuomo Ruttu and Staal added numbers to the goal list. Corvo changed his 85-100 flex stick and took more solid 110 before the game and he was able to do power play. Staal was a substitute for Ray Whitney who was suffering from a leg injury and made three points in the game. Totally, Carolina was able to block 21 shots made by lightning. Coach Peter Laviolette is a happy man and said his team was waiting to play in Homestand and is planning to go to Atlanta with all the energy and enthusiasm they got from the win.
