Is Federer losing his super power?

There is a cause for slight worry for the Federer fans as the world number one player is showing signs of losing his magical powers. He has been consecutively beaten in his last two matches that he has played and this is a bit of a hiccup as far as Federer is concerned. Federer’s loss in Dubai to Andy Murray in the first round is his first since 2004. The defeat at the Australian Open in 2008 is his first semi final loss in a grand slam since 2005. Another aspect is that it is the first time since 2000 that Federer has stepped into March without even a single tournament in his bag.

Federer seems to be losing the grip of the game some what as it is evident that he is at present not on top of his game as he was earlier. But there is always bound to be a blemish somewhere in anyone’s career and could be that his rivals have seen a weakness in his game that they are trying to exploit now. Federer, who needs three more Grand Slam titles to overcome the great champion Pete Sampras’s record of 14 grand Slams, has to be at the top of his game very soon in order to become the Superman of men’s tennis.
