The Boston Celtics played to defeat the San Antonio Spurs for 93-91 on Monday this week. Paul Pierce made 22 points and Kevin Garnett scored 21 points. Rajon Rondo is another top scorer with 20 points and Sam Cassel gave the first lead when he made a 3 pointer to reach 89-87, he has also made 17 points for the team. Celtics was playing with out one of its major player, Ray Allen as he was having problems with the left ankle. Manu Ginobili played well for Spurs and made 32 points, Tony Parker and Tim Duncan also made the score boards move by making 17 and 10 points respectively.
This is the sixth defeat of Spurs in their home town this season. They lost to New Orleans Hornets on January 26th at home. The Spurs was leading the game in the first three quarters 70-68, and then the Celtics took the lead. Rondo made it a two possession game by grabbing a rebound and hitting 2 from the line. Ginobili, the leading Scorer of Spurs returned to the reserve role, he was playing as a starter in almost all games from January 29th. It was St. Patrick’s Day and this is the second time the Celtic sand Spurs have played on this day.
