The Russian tennis blonde and the 2008 Australian Open Champion Maria Sharapova is all but positive about playing her favorite sport on the clay court this season. Sharapova has won the Bausch and Lomb clay court championship last week and wants to carry on her rich clay court form into the Family Circle Cup that has kick started on Monday. Sharapova has so far won three Grand Slam titles, but her record at the finals of a clay tournament stands at 0-3 and she made a small correction to the record by winning her first clay court title at the Bausch and Lomb Championships.

Sharapova is very much determined to set things right this season and is looking forward to gain her second clay court tile in successive weeks. Sharapova has played in the Family Circle Cup only once earlier at the tender age of 15, way back in 2003. She is considered to be one of the top favorites to win the championship along with top seeded player and defending champion Jelena Jankovic.
