Byron Scott has one more reason to smile now. Other than the fact that he has led the New Orleans Hornets to a record breaking victory amounting to a grand total of 56 wins, he also won the award given by NBA for Best Coach of the Year 2008. The coveted award was presented to honor the outstanding coach who brought the Hornets unprecedented fame and triumphs throughout the four fruitful seasons with the New Orleans Hornets. He raised the bar of excellence and managed to command a plus-17 increase in wins when compared with results from the previous season. Another reason that brought him the title was the fact that Scott made the Hornets a division champion this year for the first time in the team’s history.

Official sources revealed that after the votes were tallied, the likeable coach gained a landslide victory of 70 first-position votes. Doc Rivers, Boston Celtics’ coach came in second with 23 votes whereas Rick Adelman, the Houston Rockets’ coach garnered 17 votes.
