There is a profile on ESPN.com today of Jerry Sloan, the long-time coach of the Utah Jazz as well as a former player for the Chicago Bulls. He has been coaching the Jazz longer than any other coach has coached their team, in any sport in America right now. It tells how he had a very difficult time in his life, about the age of 18, when he enrolled at the University of Illinois and stayed only a couple weeks before he decided to leave. Tried a couple more schools and then decided to just go to work in factories, oil fields, anywhere. He didn’t mind hard work or low jobs. This is what has influenced him over the years, both in playing and coaching, and people really respect him for it. No he hasn’t won a championship, but he will keep working to try it!
