The Chicago Bulls lost two big names in their organization yesterday. Norm van Lier and Johnny “Red” Kerr both passed away on the same day. They are known by a full generation of fans as commentators on the games, but they were also big names in their own rite. Van Lier was one of the best players in the history of the organization, at least up until the era of Jordan. He led the team to many playoff appearances and was one of the best players of the time. Kerr played for the Syracuse Nationals and then was a long-time coach of the Bulls. Then he became one of the main play-by-play guys on television.
