Chris Chelios will not be returning to the Red Wings this next year, because they will not be offering him a contract. It’s possible that he would like to come back, but he’s in his mid 40s and doesn’t get as much playing time as he did when he was younger. Detroit will be making some changes over the course of the offseason, because they were unable to win it. The team was looking a little older towards the end of this season, and they will need a new infusion of energy. But done’t worry, this doesn’t look like it’s going to be the beginning of rebuilding. Just a little bit of retooling from where they were before. They still have several outstanding players that will be working hard with the team for years to come.
