Fedor Emelianenko is joining StrikeForce, a fast-growing competitor to the UFC. He is one of the best fighters in the MMA world and he’s going to be missed in the UFC. This is in part due to the fact that one of his competitors failed a drug test and the Affliction promotion fell apart. So he became a free agent and then ended up in a tough position. He’s now headed to StrikeForce, where they’re willing to do a deal with a company that Emelianenko partly owns. This will give them a certain level of “we’re better than UFC” because they were able to land this major player. We’ll see if he’s able to match up well with the other fighters on that side.
