The big question right now in parts of the MLB is what happened to the Chicago Cubs this season. It’s a remarkable fall from grace for a team that had such great promise at the beginning of the season. There were times where the team could blame injuries to key players and difficulty pitching. But now, the team’s pitchers are, by and large, doing their job (though the relief is a major concern still). It’s the hitting that just hasn’t been there for the last couple of weeks. You would think that some of the players need to be deprogrammed or something, the way that they can’t seem to get hits at key moments. Sometimes they’re playing tougher teams, but most of the time they aren’t playing against anyone too hard. They lost to the Padres. It’s not something for most people to get angry about, but it’s just a curious thing. Where did this team that was such a shoe-in go? Did they just not manage fans’ expectations well enough? Tough year for the north side of Chicago again.
