Serena Williams is usually a good player and doesn’t get into trouble or anything. She is competitive, to be sure, but she doesn’t play particularly angry. But this weekend, a foot fault got her into more trouble than usual. She disagreed with the call and decided to give the line official a tongue lashing for it. Profanity, name-calling. It was all there. She was upset and let her emotions get the better of her. And it didn’t help that the event caused her to lose the match to Kim Clijsters, because the penalty for that kind of behavior is the loss of a point. It happened to be the match point. She paid a fine and issued an apology. The tennis world appreciates that and I think this wont be a common occurrence for her or anything.
