Defensive Rookie of the Year Down

Jerod Mayo, last year’s rookie of the year for defense, was injured during the first quarter of the first game. He hurt his ligament and he is disappointed that he is unable to get into the swing of things again for awhile. The coach says that he doesn’t think that the Patriot’s injury is season-ending, but he will have to work hard to get rehabbed for sometime later in the season. He is on crutches and has a cast on. Mayo is a really strong player and there will be some trouble in replacing him, but perhaps it’ll only take another good player in this team with a lot of depth. But the team is confident that he will do everything to get back into shape by the end of the year.
