Conflict in Minnesota

The Minnesota Vikings are looking for a new stadium. Their hope had been to get a new-built stadium in Minneapolis-St Paul. But the city isn’t interested in that at this point, as they are currently helping to finance the Minnesota Twins stadium, which will get them out of the Metrodome. So that leaves the Vikings in the Metrodome, long considered a less-than-ideal space. Their lease is up at the end of next season, and the lessors have told them that the days of having a great deal on their rent are over when the new lease gets signed. The team was upset about this and sent them a strongly worded statement to tell them what they thought of it. The implicit threat in all of this is that the Vikings, who currently lead the NFC North, could move to another location at the end of next season. It’s possible they might find themselves in Los Angeles, giving LA a team, but no team for Minnesota anymore. They’ll have to resolve this to keep the team in the area, that’s for sure!
