The Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto is really upset with his throwing lately and is determined to correct the same as soon as possible before it blows out of proportion and causes a serious problem to the team. Votto, a strong sports personality, is determined to keep on working hard until he rectifies his throwing problems. Votto has taken note of his two poor throws in the 18 inning loosing game against the Padres last Sunday and is learning the nuances of throwing with infield coach Chris Speier. Votto is also learning about making correct decisions on whether to throw the ball or tag it himself depending on various situations.

Pirates’ Nate McLouth strives to be the best

Nate McLouth proves he can shine after he was given a chance to play for real in the field and not just sit out as a utility outfielder during the past three seasons. The previous years were a difficult time for McLouth as he saw most team mates rise to glory while he had no progress to show. Now, he is leading in terms of batting average and is showing off great home runs. McLouth on the offensive is like a ragin bull. He was previously overshadowed by teammate Morgan’s defensive expertise even though he managed to wow the crowd with his excellent  home runs and 17 RBIs. He quickly proved to be indispensable once the Pirates’ new management came into the picture.

Rangers Closer C.J Wilson yet to prove his mettle

 The Texas Rangers baseball team started for a 10-game trip on Sunday. The closer C.J Wilson is still in the team and the Rangers fans doubt his success in the game after his blown save against the Twins in Minnesota. With a lead in the ninth inning Rangers were in a secure position, but everything changed when Wilson was on the mound.  The win slipped out of the hands of Rangers for 7-6 in the 12th inning. Manager of Rangers Ron Washington said that they will have to find out some method to straighten Wilson and he revealed that keeping Wilson out of the ninth inning is not in his mind.

Indianapolis going all out for Super Bowl bid

The Super Bowl bid organizers in Indianapolis are leaving no stone untouched in a proposal to bring one of sports premier event, Super Bowl 2012, to their newly constructed Lucas Oil Stadium. The Indianapolis organizers are competing for the bid with the likes of organizers of Phoenix and Houston and who will win the bid to host the 2012 Super Bowl football event will be revealed after the NFL owners sit for a discussion regarding the same coming Tuesday. The local companies and individuals have contributed generously for this cause and the organizers have raised a sum of $25 million, with Lucas Oil Products Inc contributing $1 million.

West helps Hornets to beat Spurs

David West had to not only wade off the players of the  current champion team San Antonio Spurs, but also had to play with back spasms to lead the New Orleans Hornet to a 101-79 victory over San Antonio Spurs. David West knew that it was a do or die game for his team and was completely focused on the game in hand and did not worry about his back pain. West made a playoff high of 38 points, five blocked shots and 14 rebounds in the game and the Hornets lead the playoff series 3-2. The New Orleans coach Byron Scott appreciated his players for being resolute in their quest for one of sports prestigious titles, the NBA playoffs.

Raven’s Sypniewski to miss 2008 season due to knee injury

The Baltimore Raven’s tight end Quinn Sypniewski is to miss the entire 2008 NFL season, one of America’s favorite sporting spectacle every year, due to a serious knee injury that he sustained during the minicamp for the draft players. The tight end was stretchered off the practice field after a collision with linebacker Barnes. The recent surgery that was carried out on Sypniewski made it clear that he would take about 6 to 9 months to fully recover from the serious knee injury. Sypniewski was one of the best offensives for the Ravens last season as he made 34 receptions for 246 yards and also claimed a touchdown.

Manchester United close to winning the Premiership title

It was a Christiano Ronaldo show once again in the English Premier League as the Manchester United registered a 4 -1 victory over West Ham putting them on the threshold of retaining the Premiership title. Ronaldo scored two out of the four goals of Manchester United and Sir Alex Ferguson was over the moon with this victory. The final match for the United will be at Wigan and Manchester United players will be hoping to claim the 17th English Premiership title.

 

 

 

The United won the game against West Ham without the services of England striker Wayne Rooney and the manager Alex fielded the same 11 players that won the game against Barcelona in the UEFA Cup semifinals. It was a very easy game for the famed Manchester United side and the soccer showcased by the United boys was top class and the only chink in this game was the red card earned by Lucas Neill.

Kobe Bryant has long been considered one of the most well known players in NBA history, and even became a household name all over the world, but he has never had the chance to be named as a greatly valuable player. That changed recently when he won an MVP award for his talents and contributions, especially after guiding the Los Angeles Lakers to victory with one of the most outstanding records in the Western Conference. This Wednesday, Kobe and his teammates will try to defeat Utah in the semifinals, and that will be when he receives his treasured MVP trophy from commish David Stern.

Manchester United in the final of the Champions League

The Manchester United fans were thrilled to bits to see their team enter the finals of one of the most prestigious tournaments in the sports world, the Champions League, courtesy of an astonishing goal by Paul Scholes. This win will set up an All English Champions league final in Moscow on May 21, as Chelsea is the other team that has qualified for the final. The Barcelona team played some outstanding attacking soccer game, but could not quiet squeeze a goal into the Manchester United’s net.

 

The coach of the Manchester United team, Sir Alex Ferguson, said that the goal by Scholes was absolutely a fantastic one and praised him as one of the greatest players that the club has ever had. Ferguson said that he did not care about the opponent in the final and was happy that his team has got there. The finals is expected to be a thrilling one and fans from both the sides will be flocking Moscow to watch their favorite stars in action.

NBA Names Byron Scott Coach of the Year 2008

Byron Scott has one more reason to smile now. Other than the fact that he has led the New Orleans Hornets to a record breaking victory amounting to a grand total of 56 wins, he also won the award given by NBA for Best Coach of the Year 2008. The coveted award was presented to honor the outstanding coach who brought the Hornets unprecedented fame and triumphs throughout the four fruitful seasons with the New Orleans Hornets. He raised the bar of excellence and managed to command a plus-17 increase in wins when compared with results from the previous season. Another reason that brought him the title was the fact that Scott made the Hornets a division champion this year for the first time in the team’s history.

Official sources revealed that after the votes were tallied, the likeable coach gained a landslide victory of 70 first-position votes. Doc Rivers, Boston Celtics’ coach came in second with 23 votes whereas Rick Adelman, the Houston Rockets’ coach garnered 17 votes.
